I am not an artist, but I often sketch as I think and work. These are a few of my slightly better efforts...
The women from the boab tree
This goes with a short story I've been working on.

If you're wondering what a boab tree
is--it's a baobab tree. I don't know why, but we call them boabs in
Australia--and seemingly only in Australia.
Fearn
I drew this while thinking about a short story. As you can see, I'm
not an artist, but I often find that letting my pencil skim the page
allows my mind to flutter and flit about the right cages until I'm
ready to write.
Parrot

My
learner-style drawing aside, if you're wondering why this bird is a
parrot, (also known as a psittacine), here are the three major
characteristics:
* long tail feathers that hang significantly past the body. Note: not all systems include this characteristic.
* curved beak with the hook extending over the bottom half. There's a bit more to this, but it's too long to go into.
* two toes pointing forward, two toes pointing back. (This is hard to see in my rendering.)
Common parrots: budgerigars (parakeets); cockatoos; African Greys; and lovebirds (peach faces).
Boab
Tulip in the rain
I'm told this looks more like the back of a leaf then a tulip.
